Shoot with Line.

Step by step, what to expect

Initial conversation

Most productions start with a simple conversation about the project, references, schedule, ambitions and rough budget range. At this stage, many productions are still figuring out what is realistic in Norway, and part of our role is helping shape that early direction.

Early research & feasibility

Before moving forward, we help assess whether the production makes sense creatively, logistically and financially in Norway. This can include discussions around season, light, weather, travel distances, permits, crew size and possible incentive opportunities.

Location research & scouting

Once the direction is clear, we begin building location options based on the project’s needs. Depending on the production, this may involve local scouts, existing location databases, custom research, drone scouting and early discussions with municipalities or landowners.

Budgeting & production planning

We prepare a realistic production plan based on the actual needs of the shoot. This often includes crew recommendations, transport, accommodation, equipment, scheduling, weather backup plans and overall logistics.

Permits & local coordination

Permit requirements in Norway vary a lot depending on the location and production footprint. Some shoots are straightforward, while others involve coordination with municipalities, police, road authorities, ferry companies, national parks or private landowners. A large part of our work is simply knowing who to contact and how to approach it.

Shoot preparation

As production approaches, we coordinate crew, schedules, transport, equipment and technical planning. Norwegian productions often involve changing weather, remote locations and long travel distances, so thorough preparation becomes especially important.

Production

During the shoot, we manage local logistics, problem solving and communication so the creative team can stay focused on the production itself. Our role is to keep the production moving smoothly while adapting to the realities of filming in Norway.

Wrap & delivery

After the shoot, we handle returns, accounting, sustainability reporting and any remaining local deliveries connected to the production.

Deciding between Oslo and the rural landscape

Norway has so much to offer! Sure, a lot of the industry is centered around Oslo, making it a convenient starting point. But when it comes to choosing where to shoot, it’s about more than just being “in or out” of the city.

Oslo, on the other hand, provides a broad range of settings in close proximity. With options that include urban scenes, modern architecture, and even nature spots just a short drive away, Oslo can be a flexible and efficient choice. Filming here can help you maximize your shooting hours while keeping travel minimal, but it may not have the same dramatic landscapes as more remote locations.

Shooting outside of Oslo often adds travel costs and logistical complexity. The rural landscapes—majestic mountains, tranquil fjords, and expansive coastlines—offer incredible visuals, but they come with practical challenges. Long travel times and transportation costs for crew and equipment can add up, so it’s essential to consider these unique settings.
